Great Chinese restaurant that exceeded our expectations. The Chinese fried noodle combo was our favorite, with the salt and pepper fish fillet a close second. The owners were very nice as well.

Food is super yummy with allot of flavor definitely worth stopping here the staff are super friendly and felt welcomed as soon as we entered the door. Scratch that be careful with the tipping. We tipped the lady cash and zeroed the tip on the receipt. And today we got charged a tip for no reason.

Ox tail hot pot here is so comforting and delicious! The boss lady is super nice too, she let me order the lamb version of this on a previous visit even though it was no longer a part of the menu ...

Welcome to Papa’s Kitchen, a delightful culinary gem nestled in the heart of San Francisco at 1705 Haight St. Specializing in a range of Chinese comforts, including noodles and soup, this unclaimed eatery promises to be a favorite for those seeking both flavor and convenience.

As a food reviewer of Res Menu, I was eager to experience what Papa’s Kitchen had to offer, given its reputation for serving hearty dishes that cater to a wide variety of preferences, including delivery and takeout options.

Upon entering, the casual ambiance immediately invites you to relax and enjoy your meal. One of the standout features of Papa’s Kitchen is its dog-friendly policy, hence providing a welcoming atmosphere for pet owners.

Where to begin? The menu is brimming with options that highlight the rich flavors of Chinese cuisine. Here are a few highlights:

  • BBQ Grill Lover's: For lovers of grilled meats, the syrupy sweet Grill Chicken ($17.00) and the savory BBQ Beef Short Rib ($18.00) promise a robust experience.
  • Noodle Dishes: Don't miss out on the flavor-packed Chow Mein ($15.00) and the hearty Seafood Noodle Soup ($16.00)—both offer the perfect balance of texture and taste.
  • Papa’s Special: For a true treat, the Dry Cooked Meiji Prawn ($19.50) stands out, delightfully sautéed in a special sauce that tickles the palate.

Each dish promises a satisfying crunch combined with depth of flavor. The grilled items evoke a sense of nostalgia, bringing back memories of backyard barbecues. Meanwhile, the noodle dishes are comforting and perfect for any time of day, delivering rich umami flavors. I found myself savouring each bite, appreciative of the expert craftsmanship behind the scenes.

Papa's Kitchen’s limited vegetarian options might seem like a drawback for some, but the genuine quality and delectable flavors offered in the meat and seafood dishes make it a worthy destination for any food enthusiast. With the hustle of San Francisco around, this little kitchen is a perfect retreat for casual dining, family meals, or even a quick lunch with friends.

As I checked out with a satisfied smile, I found myself planning my next visit to dive deeper into their unique takes on traditional favorites. Whether you're a local or just passing through, Papa’s Kitchen is a must-visit for that authentic taste of Chinese cuisine.
